"How is this possible?"
That's the first thing a National Fleet Manager asked us after a year of in-service testing. It's the right question.
Everything we claim sounds impossible for a brake rotor, and it's only possible because of a real leap in materials science.
In Sarah Olson's words (our VP of Engineering): inside a PVD vacuum chamber, under 300°C, "we bombard the surface, break out the surface atoms, then bond in new materials that build a surface lattice." She calls it "an atomic cleaning." The result is a chromium (Cr⁺) lattice, atomically integrated into the cast iron, under 4 microns deep — and it "expands and contracts at the same rate as the cast-iron substrate," so it doesn't crack or delaminate.
Our treatment makes it tougher, not harder. The lattice structure makes it extremely tough.
